The Hakusesha shoujo manga here comprise 中条 比紗也 Nakajo Hisaya-sensei's backlist, titles that were originally serialized in Hana to Yume. This post forms part of my Hana-Kimi series and is the second backlist for a manga-ka (the first one was Fujiwara Yoshiko-sensei).

Edited the original Hana-Kimi ISBN-10 numbers to reflect the transition to 13 digits and added the Japanese aizōban (collector's editions) released to push the manga while the Hana-Kimi J-dorama aired. Also added synopses and generally tried to make the list as comprehensive as I could. Edits marked with "NEW" don't necessarily mean the title in question is new, just that it's a new entry here.

Sugar Princess starts off with Kurinoki Maaya at the skating rink with her little brother, who is a novice on the ice rink. Maaya, determined to show how simple it is, pulls off a double axel which ends with a messy landing. A grizzly-looking man witnesses this and is amazed at how a beginner like her can imitate a move just from one glance. The grizzly man, Toudou Eiji, confronts her and then says,Do you want to try to become a princess?
The story is basically about a normal girl who receives the chance to become a figure skater but with one exception. She has to be partnered up with Kanou Shun. Maaya's first impression of Shun is that he's very beautiful because of his graceful form but this first impression turns ripe to sour as Shun is outraged at being paired with a novice like her. For Nakajo Hisaya's newest series, this one seems to hold great potential for a good shoujo storyline. Hopefully, more characters will enter the scene and Maaya's relationship with Shun will tighten up so they can work together. Who knows?

Ashiya Mizuki idolizes high jumper Sano Izumi. To get closer to him, she transfers to his high school. The problem is Osaka Gakuen is an all-boys school and Mizuki is a girl!

Increasing manga sales aside, I personally think the re-release was necessary, if only for compare and contrast purposes as the Japanese TV series wasn't as faithful to the manga as one might have expected (not that that was a bad thing). I speculate the "extra creative" take was partly influenced by the adherence to the Hana-Kimi canon by the earlier-airing Taiwanese adaptation Hua Yang Shao Nian Shao Nu—if someone else has done it, let's do something different kind of deal. I assume this based on the reported NTD 30 million that Japanese and South Korean TV stations shelled out for the broadcast rights of the consistently high-rating HYSNSN (you fork out that much, you don't want to be creating your own competitor). Or I could just be talking out of my *ss and this is all because of the profit directive; after all, as DramaWiki noted, the Taiwanese dorama had to be renamed to comply with the Japanese manga publisher's mandate to associate the show with the manga in an effort to raise manga sales.

One-shots
Nakajo Hisaya-sensei's standalone love stories include "The Cage of Summer" (which stars fallen angel Kaede and the "older woman" Toko who falls for him) and "Thirsty Moon" (featuring Yue and Miho who will wrench your heart). These were included in Hana-Kimi volume one and volume four respectively. And may I just insert that both stories are absolutely, positively delish ^^
According to Niko-Niko.Net, there's also a short story starring the Umeda/Nanba clan in the For You in Full Blossoms Hisaya Nakajo Character Book.

Doujinshi
Nakajo Hisaya-sensei also illustrated doujinshi for titles like Evangelion, Inuyasha, and Naruto. As a doujinka, she uses the pseudonyms Fumizuki Ryo or Fujiya Peco. You can see a list of her doujinshi from Baka-Updates Manga or Manga Jouhou.
Finding out that Nakajo Hisaya-sensei apparently has just that much more doujinshi in her portfolio than conventional shoujo titles now makes me realize why the BL overtones in HK were just that. Over. ^^

According to the Let's go to a voice-over session omake in manga volume 8, this drama CD was given away through issue 7, 1999 of Hana to Yume. To get it, you had to mail in a proof of purchase; this was not sold (hence, its rare item
status). The first story is Dorm 2's staging of William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. Sano is cast as Romeo, so who else would be Juliet but...

This is the second drama CD Nakajo-sensei wrote a Making of in volume 12. The first story has Nakatsu sleuthing paranormal phenomena, convinced that an unusual bump in the night is one of the seven Osaka Gakuen mysteries.
