To buy or not to buy
I reviewed this series in 2006 and these were my warnings —

• evil aunt
• evil cousin
• child abuse (well, that sorta went without saying...)
• the reinvention of amenable
• genderbending (again)
• cavalier treatment of killing (again)
something wicked this way comes

—and then forgot about it. With the release of the penultimate volume, I think it's time to pick it up again.

Trigun Maximum is the same series as Trigun; the title change owes to Nightow Yasuhiro-sensei having to change publishers, after the Shōnen Captain mangazine—in which the series was originally serialized—folded in 1997. Nightow Yasuhiro-sensei has reportedly stated that new title regardless, the slightly darker Trigun Maximum story should be viewed as a continuation of the series. Dark Horse Comics translated two volumes of the original Trigun published by Tokuma Shoten and also licenses Trigun Maximum with Digital Manga Publishing. The first volume, "The Hero Returns," was released in 26 May 2004; the latest volume 12: "The Gunslinger" went on sale 16 January 2008.

With Elex Media publishing volume 1, Indonesian augments other language versions of Trigun Maximum (French, German, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish).

First published in Japan by Gentousha (February 2002)
Series status: Four volumes, complete (April 2005)

To buy or not to buy
Not having read any Saitoh Misaki-sensei title aside, I love his/her chara designs. So much so that I'm moved to upload the covers here, here, and here.

Plus it's BL, so, Buy, Buy, Buy.

Other versions/languages/works by same manga-ka
Ultra Panic is not yet licensed for English distribution, but there seems to a special two-volume re-release (スペシャル版 ウルトラ・パニック) from December 2006 to January 2007.

Other manga by Saitoh Misaki-sensei include:
Taimashin (魔殺ノート退魔針 スペシャル版): seven-volume horror series written by Kikuchi Hideyuki-sensei, of which ADV Manga only released two volumes (I think?);
Drug-On ~ Dragon (DRUG−ON ドラゴン), currently with two volumes [1 | 2] already released;
Hinata no Ookami - Shinsengumi Kidan (ひなたの狼−新選組綺談−): a historical seinen series (still ongoing?) with the eyecandiest of eyecandy covers [1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5]; and
Shinigami Tantei to Yuurei Gakuen (死神探偵と幽霊学園): two volumes [1 | 2] as at November 2006.

The series 死神探偵と憂鬱温泉 appears to be part of the 死神探偵と Shinigami Tantei to... story (released earlier in September 2001 and again February 2002 VS the Yuurei Gakuen series which first went on sale August 2003), but I don't how, seeing as I can't read this: "憂鬱温泉." (Can anyone help?) In any case, uploaded the covers, too ^^

~niki DBA 花木兰03 who thinks Saitoh Misaki-sensei is about to get a manga-ka backlist... (if she can ever diffentiate between the original series and the specials)
