Just like the post title sez, these three are among the manga, manhwa, manhua, and makita we can expect from Elex Media and Level Comics this month. It's worth noting that close to 15 percent of the 102 manga due out in May (excluding the mangazine anthologies) are series premieres and standalones. If you think that share's still on the low side, by comparison, series conclusions at eight volumes only make up a little over half that percentage. (The percentage rises to almost 11 if we add the three penultimate installments—Angel Voice (Tenshi no Uta) volume eight; Sands' Chronicle (Sunadokei) volume nine; and 20th Century Boys (20 Seiki Shounen) volume 21—to the finales' total.)
Also significant is the continued ramping up of the release of Morikawa Jōji-sensei's Hajime no Ippo that has characterized the distribution of the popular shōnen series of late. (From February of this year, it seems a month can't elapse between one Fight!! Ippo tankōbon to the next.) In keeping with the trend, Level Comics promises volumes 46 to 48 will be out this month.
On a surreal note, a couple of releases squees retro. The first is Igarashi Yumiko-sensei's manga of Johanna Spyri's children's classic Heidi. Igarashi-sensei, if you remember, was the manga-ka of Candy Candy (which just happens to be the first manga I read). The Heidi manga is so buried-treasure, shrouded in antiquity that you can't even find any info on it (googling just excavates the 70s-vintage Alps no Shōjo Heidi anime). The other nostalgic entry is the lone makita (shōjo) by Nunik Triwahyuni—Another Triple Knock. The predecessor Triple Knock was released in April 2003, the time I was seriously getting into manga (Meteor Garden and Hanadan's fault).
But enough with the pseudo executive summary and digressions. Here's the "master" Elex and Level release schedule, as advised in the latest Komikologi Elex. Titles subject to reskedding more than the usual-is-the-cube-of-often
(there seem to be discrepancies between sources). I will post the m&c! May titles once they're up.

end notes
¹ Indonesian version skedded for 7 May 2008 release
² Either there was a misprint or the Indonesian release was postponed from its forum-advised 30 April 2008 schedule
³ Dragon Drive 2: Definitely a brochure misprint (Dragon Drive 1
), but whether this means a postponement of the Indonesian volume two release from its forum-advised 30 April 2008 schedule or we're actually up to volume three, I leave it up to you to check with your nearest Gramedia branch.
Update: Elex apparently meant volume three.
ª Jungle Boy 1: Lack of info other than the title makes me hopeful that this series is Nakamura Rie-sensei's JUNGLE BOY or J-Boy and not the Mitsurin Shounen (密林少年〜JungleBoy〜) Shueisha manga by Fukaya Akira-sensei.
Update: Yes, this refers to Nakamura Rie-sensei's J-Boy. Here's my translation (partial) of the Elex Book Review synopsis:
Accompanying his father on an expedition to Africa, Sunoa Tokugawa is ill-prepared for life beyond the African continent. But one day, his father disappears and Sunao is forced to return to Japan and live with his mother, a famous actress. Unable to fit in with students in a regular school, Sunao is transferred to one with boarding facilities, that just happen to be filled with
unique creatures.
You can read the continuation of the Indonesian synopsis here.
ͤ Midori's Days 4: Another misprint. The Indonesian volume four was supposed to have been released 23 April 2008 (and I think I already saw it in Gramedia).
ͥ Naruto 39: Already available by 1 May 2008.
ͦ Tail of the Moon 3: 3? Whatever happened to volume two?
Update: This is the fate of volume two.
