Prepone: to advance an event or activity to an earlier time (Urban Dictionary). Use: The release of Tokyo Juliet 1 has been preponed from January 2009 to November 2008.
Scheduling Tokyo Juliet and Miyasaka Kaho-sensei's Love Affair this November thus swells Level Comics's shōjo manga reserves by two titles—definitely something to celebrate when you consider that Level is a predominantly seinen imprint. It also helps fulfill Level's commitment to publish at least 24 titles per month
that Level's Aryaguna-san told me about.
About Tokyo Juliet
Since I already discussed Love Affair in an earlier post, let's focus on Tokyo Juliet. A rabu story against a fashion backdrop, TJ is premised on some planned retribution—probably misguided, definitely circuituous. Fashion design student Ayase Minori has sworn not to fall in love until she kicks the famous a*se of top designer Hinagata Eiji who allegedly stole her design and passed it off as his. Her vow, of course, is begging fate to meddle, and so Ayase meets the one person who makes thoughts of revenge Pop! disappear: the designer's only son, Akira.
I'm definitely getting the first volume when it comes out this fourth week of November. I actually like Kitagawa Miyuki-sensei's stories (Shinayaka ni Kizutsuite or Hurt Me Softly). Adding to that is Level's intent to release one TJ book per month until the series finishes. While that schedule doesn't compare with Hajime no Ippo's two to three monthly releases regularity, it's not half-bad.
Now for the rest of the November releases/upcomings.
