Starting this May, Elex Media manga prices will increase to IDR 15,000 per book (around USD 1.39) — up nine percent from its current IDR 13,800 price tag. The last time Elex hiked manga prices (by 15 percent) was (also) May last year.
Elex Media, which publishes the Indonesian versions of Naruto, Meitantei Conan, and One Piece, among other manga, cites rising production costs
among the reasons for the increase.
Since they weren't mentioned in the Elex advisory, I'm wondering what's in store for the prices of the monthly manga anthologies (currently IDR 25,000 apiece) and Level Comics and m&c! manga? Will there be a round of price increases for them, too? I'm waiting on word from Level (usual MSRP IDR 16,000), but from the recent m&c! re-releases (Hai, Miiko, Death Note), plus the upcoming Bleach 12 and reprints, m&c! price per tankou is already IDR 15,000.
Must get on with completing collections before the price hikes...
