With that pleading expression and a big red bow (two, actually) tied around our favorite otomen, Asuka-chan on the cover of Otomen volume 6 was just too, too apropos to lead this upcoming Elex manga post.

July 2009 "Executive Summary"

Fifty-six manga, manhwa, manhua and makita and four monthly anthologies scheduled.

New manga
Elex plans to release Sekai de Ichiban Daikirai (as I Hate You The Most, the first three volumes in one go) and Uta wo Kikasete (Let Me Hear The Song) this July; both shoujo series belong in Hidaka Banri-sensei's Akiyoshi Family Series universe (of discourse: the set containing all objects or elements and of which all other sets are subsets - The Oxford American Dictionary). I would've observed that now we only need Akiyoshi Family Series 3: Ari no Mama no Kimi de Ite to complete the set except... 365-nichi no Koibito (Akiyoshi Family Series 1 retitled for Indonesian release as Pacar 365 Hari) and Owaranai Koi no Tame ni (Akiyoshi Family Series 2, retitled For Endless Love), which should've both streeted sometime last May remain outstanding.

Now do you see why Asuka-chan's pose on the cover of volume 6 is even more apt?

Hope, however, springs infernal. The I Hate You The Most volumes 1-3 covers are done, done, done (see Komikologi July). And what with Elex tagging all three SP (special?) and paw-printing Must-Have, to boot, optimism runs high.

I also have high hopes (please, don't let them be dashed on the unforgiving rocks of reality!) for the release of Kure Yuki-sensei's La Corda D'Oro volume 1 (also a Must-Have) this July, seeing as how Elex has had the thing all but giftwrapped like Asuka-chan — from what issue number of HanaLaLa was it again? « Edit This releases on the 15th.

A Promise about Glass Shoe 1

Having published Baby Do Re Mi (Dolls Music Staff) and White Night Melody (White Night Fantasia) earlier, Elex follows up with the manhua prequel—A Promise about Glass Shoe (玻璃鞋之约 - Agreement of the Glass Shoe)—this July. I'm sure those who read the sequels of Selena Lin Qing Hui's marbles with glass shoes embedded in them shoujo love comedy will be very happy that Elex has gone OCD on the trilogy.

Sersan Keroro Green

In lieu of giving us Yoshizaki Mine-sensei's Keroro Gunsou volume 16 (a June outstanding), Elex offers Sersan Keroro Green (Keroro Gunsou Green: Keroro Shoutai 5 Ninshuu Shuuketsuhen or Keroro Platoon 5-man Team Gathering Compilation) as a stopgap. Doubt anyone's going to complain. Much.

Sweet Lollipop Return! 1

Designation: Must-Have Manga

The sequel to Mamotte! Lollipop—in which Zero and Ichii guard Nina (again) until the No, it's a Crystal Pearl! she accidentally swallowed (again) comes out is still in serialization in the Indonesian Nakayoshi, but (hopefully) it releases its first tankou this July.

BTW, if this isn't designated a Must-Have, then Elex must've meant A Promise about Glass Shoe 1 (the paw print is right smack in the middle of the two).

Tokkyu!! 1

The third ex mangazine series to release in tankou is Tokkyu!! by Komori Yoichi- and Kubo Mitsuro-sensei. The shounen manga about lifeguards—not a Baywatch, surely?—is still serialized in Shonen Magz. I think. (Excuse the ignorance; I don't read it.)
