The hilariously cute world as seen through the eyes of grade-schooler Miiko continues in Hai, Miiko! (Kocchi Muite! Miiko) volume 21, releasing on the 28th. (Yeah, I know you've been waiting for it.)

In this tankou, it's Christmas and Miiko is drooling over cake, tomato soup, fried chicken... but milk just makes Miiko's teeth go Brrr! What's going to happen with the yummy, yummy Christmas party now? (And DO tell me why the back cover banner sez Happy Valentine if this is supposed to be a Christmas episode?)

Love Me, Love Me Not 3 by Tachibana Yutaka

Now that Tomoya has moved to Italy and Yuna has taken her first steps into womanhood (she got her first period, bring your mind above waist line ^^), what's going to escalate happen between her and the now unimpeded Kamio brothers, Tohru and Shuichi? Find out in the penultimate volume of Love Me, Love Me Not (Kana, Kamo.), the series that creator Tachibana Yutaka admits came out at a rate of one(plus) tankoubon per year. (Thank goodness m&c! doesn't take that long.)

Not An Angel 7 and 8 of 8 by Shigematsu Takako

Talking about penults brings me to Not An Angel (Tenshi ja Nai!!) volume 7 and its finale volume 8, skedded for simultaneous release. In volume 7, Ayase-sensei and Ukyo-senpai stage a comeback (but don't worry, Hikaru and Izumi—who are now a COUPLE—can handle it) while in the final tankou, Hikaru gives it her all to be able to co-star with Izumi, as Izumi's lover. For Izumi's secret to be revealed (this being the conclusion and all) goes without saying.

New manga

Three series premieres, the first being the bombastically-titled Dewa Iblis Awan Api by Tony Wong ("Fiery Cloud God," manhua, equally fantastically-priced). For readers of Long Hu Men, the title character is no a stranger; this spin-off delves into the questions raised by the last few episodes of LHM. (Here's the Indonesian synopsis.)

The second is Flower in A Storm. Initially attributed to Kawase Natsuna in the STO, this series is actually the brainchild of another Hakusensha manga-ka (who is also the twin of Morie Satoshi), Takagi Shigeyoshi. The manga in question was originally the two-volume 花にアラシ or Hana ni Arashi (convolutedly tracked down through MangaCast's Manga in the Storm post with the help of the Oracle at Mountain View). The story follows Kunimi Riko trying to live a normal life (despite possessing extraordinary physical strength) after being rejected by her crush because of her... extraordinary physical strength. Her life becomes (even more) challenging when she finds herself on the receiving end of a proposal from the super-rich heir of the Tachibana family, Ran. Despite turning him down flat, Ran is not about to give up!

Thankfully, Rento was a quick find; it is the josei slice of life manga by Karube Junko originally serialized in Kiss. The remaining shoujo standalones are Lead My Future by Kawase Natsuna (for real this time) and Moonlight Spice by Saito Ken. Reissues

Again with the blast from the past (sorry for using this hack phrase). The first five volumes of Fujii Mihona's Gals! (about the adventures of kogal Kotobuki Ran and friends as they reign over Shibuya) and volumes 16 to 20 of Nube (Jigoku Sensei Nube). Interested?

That was a speedy turnover. Cherry 35 just went on sale on the 14th and already we have Issue 36 lined up for 28 October. It's not even a month yet. This supposedly monthly anthology of Shogakukan shoujo titles (from Sho-Comi, Ciao, ChuChu, and Flower Comics) serializes, among others, Arai Kiyoko's Beauty Pop and Miyawaki Yukino's NG Boy x Paradise. (While I don't buy Cherry regularly anymore, I will keep mentioning NG Para until m&c! deigns to release volume 1.)

Regardless that I think the title should read "Read" My Future, this manga tells the plight of Tia, a soothsayer tasked to assassinate the feared seer and ruler of the country of Dinne, Grand.

Moonlight Spice
Gekkou Spice 「 月光スパイス 」 by Saito Ken

Gekkou Spice is by the manga-ka of the poignant Flowers in the Heart/Hana no Namae series. The story which gives the compilation its title ponders the wish a black panther—drizzled with moonlight spice—makes when it meets pure bunny Alice. [from Aerandria Scans' description]
