はちみつの花 3

Hachimitsu no Hana © Kiuchi Tatsuya/Hakusensha
Published in Indonesia as Honey Flower by PT Gramedia/m&c!

Theme wa... the distance between us.

I know that the top DO WANTs of this m&c! manga release are Electric Daisy volume 4 and Shinobi Life 5. Sugu ni wakatta kara. But considering that these shoujo blue chips remain very much top-of-mind — in contrast with Honey Flower which was last a current back in November 2007 (with volume 2), I think I can be forgiven for leading with the Hachimitsu no Hana volume 3 cover.

In any case, I still synopsized the popular pair.

That sed, lemme remind you why the low-key series by Kiuchi Tatsuya-sensei is also worth the emotional capital: the concealed love between maid Chitose and her master Ran should have gone past the low simmer point long ago, largely due to Ran's assertiveness. But in actuality, Chitose continues to distance herself from her aggressive sweetheart. What is Ran supposed to do? Especially now that his friend from England, John, is in town and Chitose has to serve John, too?

(I'm actually looking forward to Chitose doing something this time.)

Electric Daisy 4 by Motomi Kyousuke

Teru uncovers Kurosaki's secret identity as DAISY; to say she is shocked is putting it mildly. She continues to feign cluelessness, however, to remain at Kurosaki's side, ignoring any feelings evoking any sense of so close and yet so far... The distance sharply contracts when a sudden catastrophe befalls the two.

That's what you call heaven-sent, misfortune or no...

Shinobi Life 5 by Conami Shoko

We're going back to the past so that Father can't separate us...

Beni resolves to go back to Kagetora's time, over Kagetora's objections. Apparently, she has forgotten (or is disregarding) the possibility that they might land in another time!

(Missing the time destination is probably going to be the least of Beni's worries...)

The rest of the synopses, including the new manga and manhwa babble, is after the jump cut.

Reissues

The last five volumes of Fujii Mihona's GALS! (volumes 6 through 10, about the antics of kogal Kotobuki Ran and homegirls as they take over Shibuya) ) also see either eye-level shelf display or stacking on the new manga piles in Gramed next week. If you didn't hoard this shoujo series the first time it came out (circa 2004), now's your chance.

New manga babble and blurbs

m&c! lets loose four premieres and a standalone. (I can count; I'll get to explicating Wind Road and The Secret of Beauty later.) The easiest to identify, of course, was Takamiya Satoru's Voice of The Sky or Sora Oto.

Long ago, an angel was punished for using her tears to save the person she loves. Rank-and-file angel Uka who escorts souls to heaven faces a similar predicament when she is assigned to guide the soul of the boy she likes, Tsumugi, to the hereafter.

Another series, a manhwaTime Between Dog and Wolf by You Na—also premieres. Not a regular watcher of K-drama, I don't know if the GN came out before or after the TV series that starred Lee Jun Ki and Nam Sang Mi and which aired on MBC from July to September 2007.

The two-volume Doki-doki Night Class 1 by Majiko! (Dynamic Duet manga-ka) won't be releasing in one go; m&c! installs volume 1 first this coming Wednesday, unlike the simultaneous liberation of the Sachimi Riho titles (see below for the W — why).

The coincident release of Sachimi Riho's Flower's Memory, Wind Road, and The Secret of Beauty would've smacked of nothing so much as another Kawamura Eri- or Nagaoka Yoshiko-like asplosion, had these titles (books 1, 2, and 3 respectively) not been the Series “Imi” trilogy . This package deal is also Akita Shoten's (published under the Princess Comics imprint; blurbs below).

Flower's Memory
Hanabana no Zanzou花々の残像 シリーズ“斎”
Book 1 of the “Imi” series

A promise, no matter how small, possesses the power to move a woman's heart, prompting her to wait even a lifetime. She endures, comforted by beautiful memories of her loved one. A love seemingly insubstantial at first, it abides... unto eternity.

This is the mystery of the human heart, oft unfathomable. Should it choose to tread the path of wickedness, however, only darkness awaits.

(I'm not being uselessly poetic. Just translating here!)

Wind Road
Kaze no Michi風の道 シリーズ“斎”
Book 2 of the “Imi” series

One who stands on the road of destiny nursing a broken heart will ultimately chance upon a mysterious boy, Itsuki.

The Secret of Beauty
Kiniro Ehon金色絵本 シリーズ“斎”
Book 3 of the “Imi” series

(Am keeping this translation in the first person POV, like the original)

A beautiful girl even as a child, my mother takes constant flattery as her due. Upon reaching adulthood, she received scores of marriage proposals; she, however, chose a man the farthest from handsome. Even after giving birth, her beauty remained peerless, her confidence in her allure only wavering as I grew daily more like her.

Finally, we get to Romantic Prince by Aoi Michiru (creator of Rhythmical Style). Had m&c! not uploaded a cover, this would've remained an Unknown (kept getting mixed up with Shiiba Nana's Ouji Romantica or Prince Romantica); as it is, m&c!'s generosity helped to identify it as Tokimeku Marriage.

The daughter of the rich Himemiya family from France, Maria travels to Japan in search of her childhood prince, only to become close to classmate Yuuki. What will happen to Maria and Yuuki's relationship when she meets someone who claims to be the prince she seeks?

More summaries...

A Direction The Day After Tomorrow 4
Asatte no Houkouあさっての方向。 」 by Yamada J-ta

Karada goes back to living with Hiro after meeting her sort of older brother at the station, but awkwardness reigns, with Hiro treating Karada as if she were another person. Meanwhile, Amino continues to investigate the wishing stone.

Will the stone really return Karada and Shouko to their former selves?

Gash Bell 33 of 33 [Finale]
Konjiki no Gash!!金色のガッシュ!!
by Raiku Makoto

Thinking they had succeeded in suppressing Clear, Gash and friends are thrown into disarray when Clear, with his perfect body retaliates. Who is going to win this final battle and emerge the king of the Mamodo world?

m&c! raises a Kleenex alert for this final volume.
