I had to surrender to the impulse (in physics, a force acting briefly on a body and producing a finite change of momentum [ibid.]), despite my loathing the word, overused along with myriad, deplore, and transcend in my dim-distant days of youth, to describe This Manga Event: Ghost Hunt 10's impending arrival (ETA Indonesia 30 June 2009).

So — serendipitous.

Imperious, too, like Naru-chan himself as all manga GET! are on now on hold, pending my snagging this tankou that I'd only been waiting for, what? Three years?

I finally found it...

Mai worries about the meaning of Naru's cryptic words as she observes him gazing into a lake they stumbled across on their way back to Tokyo from the Cursed House case. She is further dismayed when Naru tells her to look for a new job because he is closing down the SPR office.

Mai eventually discovers the reason: Naru's search for someone... murdered... has ended.

Foreknowledge regardless, I'm wondering how Mai, never possessed of inalienable equanimity even on her best day, will react to The  SPOILED *cough*He'slookingforhistwinbrotherGene*cough* Revelation, and how will she dissuade Naru from letting her go... Out of work, that is.

Heart no Ousama, the josei manga about a sweet grade school teacher who falls for a mean megane kyara has been licensed—by 3L comics who reportedly released it this week as King of Hearts (what else).

And there I was, begging asking Level if it had any plans of licensing Yoshino Aki-sensei's works, specifically Heart no Ousama (and Shuukatsu!! - Kimi ni Naitei while they were at it). Coincidence? In my dreams, yeah. All I can say is, similar to what happened with my babbling about Ghost Hunt in connection with the premiere of Strange Tales of Tokyo, this is 100% a temporal and not a causal relationship. Just because event B follows A doesn't mean event A caused B kinda thing. (Still, it doesn't hurt to keep fave MIA manga top of mind. You never know... *concentrates* Hachimitsu no Hana, Hachimitsu no Hana, Hachimitsu no Hana...)

All joking aside, I really wish that 3L/Tiga Lancar Semesta would go online with its manga schedules instead of just coming out of the blue with releases like King of Hearts and the penultimate Midori is a Tomboy by Ikeyamada Go-sensei. Leaving us readers to find out by our own devices smacks of nothing so much as exceeding customer expectations lip service. (Ooops, didn't mean to come off that Who died and made you queen b*tch there...)

Mizuki Shioko manga published by 3L

Gramedia m&c! publishes Mizuki Shioko-sensei's Crossroad, but from the releases 3L has been cranking out since last April, the latter has apparently cornered the known Mizuki Shioko-sensei manga market outside of Natsu and Kajitsu's drama series. I guess 3L is not exclusively Shogakukan manga, after all. Not complaining here, just rejoicing. I bought all these, largely because I like Mizuki Shioko-sensei's novel, not necessarily comfortable read plot bunnies.

If you could care less about the manga reissues reportedly slated to make up some 60% of m&c!'s June releases, you're in good company. Let's talk about the upcomings instead.

First up — Motomi Kyousuke-sensei's Electric Daisy or Dengeki Daisy. Serialized in Betsucomi, this shoujo manga revolves around Teru, now all alone in the world after the death of her beloved onii-chan. Before passing away, however, Teru's brother bequeathed to her a cell phone that would connect her with the person taking over big brother's tutelary role. Known only by the name DAISY from the text messages Teru receives, Teru's brother's replacement becomes increasingly important to Teru. So how will DAISY react when later, Teru unexpectedly meets and begins working for the "cruel and heartless" school janitor Kurosaki — who is hiding something? [Adapted from Baka-Updates Manga's synopsis]

(I would've liked to also include a synopsis for Mokke Guardian from Heaven (Mokke no Kamisama); Harue Le Pon-sensei's series published by Princess Comics premieres AND ends this 30 June. But as I can't seem to find any synopsis to adapt, you'll just have to be satisfied with the second tankou cover until I actually get paws on the thing. And based on that cover alone, this duology is a sure GET!)

Edited after finishing the series (sinu-san no tameni) :

If you liked Tanaka Meca-sensei's Sweet God (Sailor Fuku ni Onegai!), I think you will appreciate Mokke Guardian from Heaven which, it turns out, is about school girl Kaoru and her guardian god Mokke. Each chapter is a GOTW—God of the Week; throughout the series they meet other deities who give them both a hard time. (In this it's a bit shounen-y, but with Kaoru's unswerving lurve for rock star cum temple heir Komae, there's no shortage of shoujo conventions here.)

I also note that you have to be in a certain generous mood to get into Mokke, but trust me, after you get past his Stop it, you'll get me dirty!! fastidiousness (which almost made me want to give up on the sissy god), you'll enjoy it.

Let me repeat this warning though: it's not as shoujo-ey as other shoujo series. That is to say, you might find some questions unresolved (and want more than the two volumes) and it's not as warm and fluffy as other shoujo manga. (I'm referring to Shogakukan titles here). Hmmm... all these impressions make me want to write a review now...

Meanwhile, for those following the .hack meta franchise, specifically the .hack//G.U. series of PS2 games that takes place post the .hack//Roots anime, you can look forward to the first volume of .hack//G.U.+ by Morita Yuzuka- and Hamazaki Tatsuya-sensei.

Finally, the fourth new manga for 30 June is Jin Gai, a standalone from Nakamura Rie-sensei. There's likewise no synopsis available for this manga, but going by the JAMBIC (Judging a Manga By Its Cover) directive (not to mention it's by the J-Boy manga-ka), another definite GET!

Don't ask me where the remaining June-slated ＳＡＬＡＤ　ＤＡＹＳ are; I'm just following the Elex STO here, and I'm as baffled as you as to where those days of inexperienced youth went or why the Kiss Me With Mint reprint tags along with the 30 June stuff, when it should've released last June 10. (I could've sworn I already saw it in the Elex Comic Center over teh weekend... but then again, I could've been delusional.)

As far as continuing series are concerned, G-School volume 7 by Son ChangHo and Kim ByeongCheol finally releases next Tuesday (after a 16-month wait), along with the penultimate Holy Crystal Albatross and latest volumes of My Heavenly Hockey Club (volume 11) and Pure Love Kamikaze Captain (volume 10) that all thankfully didn't frustrate as much as G-School did.

Black Lagoon 1, Lament, and Awaken (Chuang Yi English manga out now)

Not my fault that this Chuang Yi English manga list is delayed; as late as last night (when I checked), the titles were still My Fair Lady 22 and Pokemon Adventures 30 (6.02 releases).

Be that as it may, all of Chuang Yi's releases for 16 June are new manga. There's one series premiering—Black Lagoon by Hiroe Rei—plus two standalones that, going by the manga-kas' names, look like manhua: Awaken by ng shi kian and Lament by Hu JinXuan (the latter featuring the very visual kei cover you see on the right).

What's crystal from m&c!'s 24 June manga releases is that over half of the scheduled tankou are difficult to track down. But if asahaRu-san (and Touka-san) from the m&c! forum were correct in identifying them, next week resembles nothing so much as a shoujovaganza.

At least, if we go by the Usami Maki (Love Sign 1), Kikuchi Kamaro (My Very Dear Bad Boy – Akuma ga Hallelujah), and Taamo (I Still Love You – Wagahai wa Yome de Aru) name-dropping.

Meanwhile, on the continuing series front, The Good Witch of The West (Nishi no Yoki Majo) fast approaches finale, with the penultimate volume 6's release on the 24th. I don't know when Hai, Miiko! (Kocchi Muite! Miiko) is ending, but it remains an ongoing next week with volume 20.
