Ciuman Dewa 5, Spiral - The Bonds of Reason 13, Twinkle Stars 1 by Takaya Natsuki (Elex Media 22 June 2011 manga) [UPDATED]

07-Ghost 1 should've headlined this post as it led the 22 June DO WANT! by a   w—i—d—e   margin. But it got postponed to 6 July. So what emerges as the Most Wanted manga is Ciuman Tomoe, I mean, Ciuman Dewa :D

Thanks to Mizuki, Nanami gets Tomoe out of that giant oyster and free of the Dragon King's clutches. Tomoe, of course, is one unhappy camper, especially after learning that he's no longer Nanami's sole familiar. To stop Tomoe and Mizuki from drenching the temple with blood every day, Nanami drags her familiars off to a festival to ‘make nice.’

But the fox and snake refuse to cease bickering. What will it take to enforce a truce?

Tweep @freakenari-san was actually the first to rename this series Ciuman Tomoe (Tomoe's Kiss); I would add Ciuman Mizuki. :D

Later, Nanami has to face the truth that townsfolk consider her shrine “haunted” and regard it only good for kimodameshi. To banish that misconception, our teen deity decides to hold a festival of her own. This attracts the attention of a sissy god, and before Nanami can even master the kagura dance, she is flung into a dream world where Tomoe clings to her like...whatever it is that clings plus looks on adoringly.

Spiral - The Bonds of Reason 13 of 15 by Shirodaira Kyo & Mizuno Eita

Kirie tries to determine whether Ayumu and Hizumi are blood brothers to Narumi Kiyotaka and Mizushiro Yaiba. But the DNA test she conducts produces results beyond expectations...

I can add this bit from Yen Press's Spiral: The Bonds of Reasoning, Vol. 13: Big brother Kiyotaka has always cast a shadow over Ayumu's life, but what kind of despair has Hizumi known that would make him so ready to die? Hizumi still hasn't laid all of his cards on the table, and his next play could take out one of the Blade Children for good.

Spiral The Bonds of Reason 13 spans chapters 62-66: Holy Invasion, Wing's Rustle, In a Graceful Hand That Can Go Out of Order, Toward the Zeroth Hour and The Lost World. [*NOT Elex Media's titles]

Shiina Sakuya has always turned to stargazing whenever she's down. Orphaned, she lives with her cousin Miyako Kanade. On her eighteenth birthday, a mysterious boy named Chihiro gifts her with a pink dress. Sakuya thinks Chihiro is Kanade's friend, while Kanade assumes that Chihiro is Sakuya's boyfriend.

So, who exactly is Chihiro?

Elex Book Reviews recommends Twinkle Stars (despite its Angst, Star Admirer, Unrequited Love, Painful Past, Absent Parents, Depression, Nice Girl, Tsundere Male Lead, Person with an Attitude baggage) for the art, the compelling story and Only 11 volumes! Though you don't really need the hype if you already followed Twinkle Stars before HanaLaLa was axed.

Everyone knows Takaya Natsuki-sensei, right? *cough*Fruits Basket*cough*

New serials also on tap on the mangazine side. Your Melody by Fukushima Haruka and Love is the Devil by Pedro Toriumi debut in Nakayoshi Gress! 6/2011 , while The World God Only Knows by Tamiki Wakaki starts its serial run in Indonesia's Shonen Sunday, Shonen Star, Issue 11/2011. Waiting for the bus brought them together: Han Kang Woo, a senior high student who loves cinema and dreams of one day directing his own movie, and Seong Da Yin, a beautiful girl who hates movies because of some childhood trauma.

Can Opposites Attract, if not the promise of stardom, work its magic here?

Elex Book Reviews thumbs up the eight-volume (Hurray for Hollyweird?) series for its fresh humor inserts.

Having resolved their past life issues, Rin and Arisu are rewarded with halcyon days and an adorable son. Ren appears to be a regular boy, but one day, a pair of guardian angels appear before Ren.

Could Ren have inherited his parents' powers?

The Moonlight That Surrounds Me takes place post-Please Save My Earth. Wiki notes that it reprises a lot of the ESP-related themes, in addition to bringing back many of the original characters. I tried out the first story in the tank, and found that you DO need to read PSME first for maximum enjoyment. *prepares to hunt down all 21 PSME volumes*

Elex also publishes (about to wrap) Hiwatari Saki-sensei's Global Garden.

Mystery Bride 4 of 5 by Huh KookHwa & Kim SuJin

Can Si Jun, faced with 2×Park Mu Yeon, pick out the genuine article from the fake? He bets his life on his choice and...

The gloves (and mask!) are off in the final showdown, as Yen Press puts it in its Pig Bride, Vol. 4 blurb.

The rest of the ongoing series

  • Arsène Lupin 2 by Maurice Leblanc and Kazumine Daiji: Lupin eyes Castle Thibermesnil, but not only for the treasure it holds. The one ingress is a secret path that has baffled many before Lupin. The master of the castle invites Lupin to try and match wits with the famous detective Sherlock Holmes.
  • Hitohira 4 by Kirihara Idumi: Mugi is now in her junior year. The theater club still tries to recruit new members, while the theater research club disbands. A new member, claiming to be Mugi's fan, tries to get a confused Mugi to join the theater club.
  • Mokke 3 by Kumakura Takatoshi: As with humans, spirits have their own community, bound by their own rules. Only by understanding can one realize the limits of human-spiritual coexistence.
  • Ruler of The Land 52 by Jeon KeukJin & Yang JaeHyun: Han Bikwang risks outing his identity if he jumps into combat with the Dong Ryong warriors, but battle might already be inevitable as one of the Dong Ryong warriors, Salsung, recognizes him as a Sinji swordsman.
  • Western Shotgun 37 by Park MinSeo: Troops storm Paradox and capture Amita. Tammy and Sting go off in pursuit, but it is Clint who manages to rescue Amita.

Nakayoshi 6/2011 premieres Your Melody and Love is the Devil ♡

Nakayoshi Gress! 6/2011

Watashi ni xx Shinasai!
© Toyama Ema/Kodansha

As noted above, we get two new Nakayoshi series: Your Melody and Love is the Devil. Your Melody, originally Kimi no Neiro, by Fukushima Haruka has our heroine Akira fretting over how ungirly she is. She's super tall and people mistake her for a guy, despite her long hair. So she can be forgiven for reacting a little extreme when she enters high school: chopping off her long locks, wearing a boy's shirt over her skirt and becoming the fangirl idol Prince Akira.

But has Akira really given up on her dream guy Haru, who, along with his super-cute, girly, long-haired girlfriend were the reason for Akira's radical makeover? [Adapted from Ai's Bookshelf's Kimi no Neiro description, excerpted by Baka-Updates Manga]

Love is the Devil (Amai Akuma ga Warau), meanwhile, is a Pure Pure Oujo × Demon Butler romance, apparently Pedro Toriumi-sensei's supernova debut (volume 1 JP release: 2011.03; the second tankou streets this 6 July).

The other Nakayoshi pals this issue are Animal Official, also by Fukushima Haruka; XX Me! by Toyama Ema (Yukina lands the front cover again); Arisa by Ando Natsumi (there's also an Arisa Special this edition); Hell Girl Return by Eto Miyuki and Jigoku Shojo Project; Little Shugo Chara! by PEACH-PIT & Naphthalene Mizushima; Navi Runa by Kikuta Michiyo & Ikeda Miyoko; and Ogawa and Team Saito by Sakyo, volume 6 of which released 2011.05.11.

I can't see Sakyo's Little Marchen on Issue 6's cover; has it ended already? I couldn't check out Issue 6 because it sold out on the STO day.

Shonen Star 11/2011 ☆ The World God Only Knows by Wakaki Tamiki premieres

Shonen Star 11/2011

[Shonen Sunday]

Don't think Otamegane × Harem The World God Only Knows by Wakaki Tamiki needs an intro, but in case you don't follow the anime, Kaminomi or Kami nomi zo Shiru Sekai details the adventures of misogynist otaku Katsuragi Keima, pressed for help by the devil Elsie to collar fugitive spirits who hide inside girls' hearts. The only way to kick the spirit out is to make the girl fall in love. And he's not allowed to fail or he will lose his head, as Baka-Updates Manga points out.

Elsewhere, the high-staked game between Gaku and Kako continues in Fukuchi Tsubasa's Takkoku!!! (Issue 11 cover): Gaku wins against Chiena, Kako shows up and Misaki, who has fallen for Gaku, challenges Gaku to takkoku!!! (Btw, the first Takkoku!!! tank streeted last 8 June.)

The other ShoStars: Appearance of the Yellow Dragon by Tamura Mitsuhisa; ARAGO by Arai Takahiro; Defense Devil by Youn InWan & Yang KyungIl (volume 4 per 8 June); Detektif Conan by Aoyama Gosho (volume 61 per 11 May); D-LIVE!! by Minagawa Ryouji; Dr. Koto by Yamada Takatoshi (volume 5 per 4 May); Inuyasha by Takahashi Rumiko (volume 52 per 25 May); Kekkaishi by Tanabe Yellow (volume 6 per 25 May); My First Mr. Akuno by Fujiki Syun (volume 4 per 20 April); and Wild Life by Fujisaki Masato (volume 17 per 15 June).

(I don't wonder about the missing Yakitate!! Japan on the cover, but I can't see a hint of Ohtaka Shinobu's Magi. Funny that, because it premiered in Issue 10. Whahappened?)
