Detektif Conan 64, One Piece 60, Barista 2 (Elex Media 26 October 2011 manga)

Elex's Detektif Conan vol 64 preview—Satu-satunya petunjuk adalah lagu Let It Be yang disiulkan oleh pelaku—sounded familiar and some flipping back to July answered the Why?

It was Shonen Star 13's Detektif Conan preview.

I'm still no lawyer (not to mention remain a Conan virgin), so that

The statute of limitations on the unsolved 20-year old murder of Detective Morimura, Commissioner Matsumoto's subordinate, is set to expire. But a string of copycat killings extends the deadline. With clues thin on the ground—only the killer's Let It Be whistling as guide—Conan aids the police in tracking down the perp.

continues to be problematic. As I mentioned in that July post, apparently, Japan abolished the statute of limitations for murder in 2010, leading me to wonder whether that Under the new Law, the statute of limitations is not applied for crimes that are subject to the death penalty, such as murder and robbery that result in death amendment had been Aoyama Gosho-sensei's inspiration. (Prolly not cuz volume 64 streeted April 2009.) In any case, not much has changed since I adapted the blurb, or in short, I still don't know what I'm talkin' about. >.<

The one certain thing: There's also the case of Saba, Koi, Tai and Hirame, and the beginning of another run in with Phantom Thief Kid, the latter previewed in Wiki's Case Closed volume 64 summary.

Conan volume 64 compiles chapters 664 through 674: Ikkaku Rock, Mackerel Carp Sea Bream Flounder (that's Saba Koi Tai Hirame), Thirst for Blood, Scar, The Boy of Memory, Gari-kun, The One Who Whistles, The Connection, ESWN, The Common Pattern and Iron Tanuki. [*NOT Elex/Shonen Star chapter titles]

For up-to-the-minute Conan installments, bring home Shonen Star. The Indonesian Shonen Sunday Issue 19 streets the same day as Detektif Conan volume 64. The most recent Meitantei Conan chapter compiled in a tankou is 773: Possible Sniping! (collected in volume 73; JP release: 2011.09.16).

Despite being credited to Kiuchi Tatsuya (on the cover), Exposing Game or Sarashi Asobi, one of three newbs this release, is by Tobina Toya, manga-ka of the mysophobic Keppeki Shounen Kanzen Soubi or Mr. Super Clean (m&c! license). Another premiere is Dalam Atap di Bawah Langit, the Manga Time Kirara 4-koma Sora no Shita Yane no Naka by Futami Sui. Look for the latter's preview after the release list. Imma expose Exposing Game up here. (For the lowdown on local comic Bengal: Circle of Crime, check out LXO's thread. You already know Bayu Indie's Bengal, don't you?)

A bored Shinigami knows how long Ren has left to live and possesses her — to expose all that Ren holds dear.

While Shinigami Ai enjoys his Exposing Game, he also grows interested (infatuated?) in Ren. [Addition from Karma Falls Scanslations' Sarashi Asobi description excerpted by Baka-Updates Manga]

Sarashi Asobi started its Hana to Yume serialization in 2008. Volume 1 was published in Japan in March 2009, the second and final tankou in April 2010.

Dalam Atap di Bawah Langit vol 1 of 2
By Futami Sui

Many of us look on graduation as equalling freedom. Freedom from years of stress from terror teachers and onerous homework. But graduation also means responsibility: the onset of working for a dream, if not daily survival.

Let me pick up with Baka-Updates Manga's Sora no Shita Yane no Naka description to explain this seinen 4-koma's appeal:

NEETs are people who have chosen not to be part of society due to personal problems or just straight-out laziness.

This story is centered around a certain young woman who has become a NEET right after high school without even realizing it. In her case, though, it's not that she doesn't want work - but rather that there is not a single job out there which can fulfill her very specific criteria...

Oh, well...at least her mother understands her!

Sora no Shita Yane no Naka first serialized in Manga Time Kirara and Manga Time Kirara Carat. Houbunsha finished collecting it in two tankoubon in May 2010.

Other Futami Sui manga
Other than Sora no Shita Yane no Naka, could only find one more manga: Sekai Maou, also a Manga Time Kirara Carat 4-koma. Volume 1 streets 27 October in Japan.

Barista vol 2 of 6+
By Muronaga Kumi & Hanagata Rei

Eligio Sola dispatches Kouki to its Japanese branch for training. The local management and staff know nothing of Kouki's barista abilities, much less the company's plans for him. They treat Kouki no better than a temp, and for Kouki to even touch the espresso machine, he must first prove his worth by competing with the Japanese Primo.

I can't wait for Kouki to put that too totally insecure primo in his place :D

The sixth Barista volume streets 16 November in Japan.

Moonlight Act vol 2 of 15+
By Fujita Kazuhiro

Let's revisit Moonlight Act or Gekkou Jourei's premise:

Every few decades, a blue moon illuminates the earth, causing the world children know from bedtime stories to go weird. The council of the world of faerie tales thus enacts the Gekko Jorei and appoints Iwasaki Gekko the executor this Moonlight Act. It is Gekko's job to protect readers from the wrath of moonstruck faerie tale characters.

Question for this second Moonlight Act volume: Who is Gekko's foe (or foes) this time?

Fifteen Gekkou Jourei volumes have been released in Japan as of 18 October.

One Piece vol 60 of 64+

That One Piece vol 60 is subtitled Adikku (Otōto yo) means... (If you prefer your synopsis episodic, however, check out Wiki's version.)

One Piece 60 compiles chapters 585 to 594: Brotherly Pact, City of Stench, I Will Never Run Away, Sabo's Ocean, Efforts Toward Glory, My Brother, Are You Sure That's All Right?, Yell, News and Message. [*NOT Elex chapter titles]

Only one question needs asking (and it's not why is Inuyasha the Shonen Star cover): Can Inuyasha wrest Kagome from the Meido that swallowed her up? (What do you think? :P)

Other ShoStars keeping Takahashi Rumiko's Inuyasha company in the latest Issue 19: Defense Devil by Youn InWan & Yang KyungIl, AR∀GO by Arai Takahiro, D-LIVE!! by Minagawa Ryouji, Magi by Ohtaka Shinobu, Dr. Koto by Yamada Takatoshi, Kekkaishi by Tanabe Yellow, Detektif Conan by Aoyama Gosho, My First Mr. Akuno by Fujiki Syun, Magical Iroha by Inoue Kazurou and Wild Life by Fujisaki Masato.

I doubt Wakaki Tamiki's The World God Only Knows has finished even though I can't see it on the cover, even with squint mode, ON! After all, Kaminomi was the featured series just last issue. (Takkoku!!! by Fukuchi Tsubasa, meanwhile, has been playing hide and seek whenever Magi grabs a cover line-up. Or so it seems to me as I don't buy Shonen Star.)
