Idol's Love Story 7, Love Sick 1 by Morie Satoshi, Triple launch: Ai Hime - Love & Secret by Mitsuki Kaco (m&c! 5 October 2011 manhwa and manga) [UPDATED]

Update: And we graduate from List Version into NikBabble™ (Don't worry; I include m&c! artwork and blurbs, too.)

Idol's Love Story 7 (m&c!)

Idol School of Noble's Story © Han YuRang/Samyang
Published in Indonesia as Idol's Love Story by Gramedia/m&c!

In Idol's Love Story vol. 7 —

Ian hauls out the Incest Card and rejects Lang Land outright; Lang Land in turn rejects Ian's rejection of her love confession, forcing her step-brother to take extreme measures.

Just how extreme? The cover above prolly clued you in, but you'll hafta GET! the We're More Than Halfway Thru Idol's Love Story to confirm.

For you on Team Jang Gun × Lang Land, your ’ship's (also) in danger of sinking as Jang Gun's dad pressures his son to choose between Lang Land and his friends. (Pronoun ambiguity deliberate :P)

New m&c! manga
Heck, all the manga titles are newbs. There's Mitsuki Kaco's Taboo Love Ai Hime - Love & Secret triple-launching and the debut of Morie Satoshi's shoujo gender bender Love Sick. Cherry grad Super Sweet Honey by Aoi Michiru gets the tankou treatment and Nakashima Kazuki × Karakara Kemuri's Takeru: Opera Susanoh Sword of the Devil premieres. Exclusively shoujo, BTW.

Featuring Love Sick (jebolan or ex-HanaYume) up here. That's one of the perks to owning this blog, and for you, the downside(?) to sed owner stalking Morie Satoshi (manga-ka of School Hotel). Mitsuki Kaco fans (and Takeru: Opera Susanoh and Super Sweet Honey interested parties), scroll awaaay.

Love Sick 1 (m&c!)

Love Sick © Morie Satoshi
Hakusensha [First serialized
in Hana to Yume]
Published in Indonesia
by Gramedia/m&c!

She would go on to publish the three-volume, bishounen named for seasons (‘Haru (spring) the prince, Natsu (summer) the bishounen, Aki (autumn) the womanizer, and Fuyu (winter) the cold-hearted genius’) gender bender Love Sick...

...is what I noted under Other Morie Satoshi manga when We Love You, Shiro! premiered, and a couple months later, we get Love Sick—oh, you wanted a more informative blurb?

Shiki enrolls in a rich kids' school disguised as guy to wreak revenge on the principal, responsible for her father's death. There she meets Haru, Natsu, Aki and Fuyu, her dad's former patients. Shiki discovers that not only are they popular, they all suffer from a mysterious illness, too. To sway the fab foursome to her side, Shiki threatens to divulge their secret.

Does Shiki succeed in Mission: Avenge? Whatever the final outcome, it will likely only become apparent by the third Love Sick volume, published in Japan in February 2010. (The first tank streeted April 2009.) As for what ails Shiki's Reverse Harem, perhaps the manga title Love Sick is the clue? Especially as the chapter titles are actually styled SICK, as in 1st ~ 6th SICK (that comprise volume 1). Barring that, the Dissociative Identity Disorder mentioned in Baka-Updates' Love Sick entry?

I already mentioned School Hotel or Gakkou Hotel above. No change to Morie Satoshi's backlist since the Shiro premiere, so just click the link to Other Morie Satoshi manga three paragraphs above if you're interested to know moar.

Ai Hime - Love & Secret
By Mitsuki Kaco

Ai Hime - Love & Secret 1 - Back cover (m&c!)

Ai Hime ~Ai to Himegoto~ © Mitsuki Kaco/Shogakukan
[First serialized in Betsucomi]
Published in Indonesia as Ai Hime - Love & Secret by Gramedia/m&c!

Mao finds herself alone in Japan after her Love you, dear! workaholic parents pursue their jobs abroad. As Mao muses over what to do with herself during Hanami season, as if tugged by the red thread of fate (in the form of a cat), she is led to a cherry blossom tree — and the man asleep in its shade. They kiss.

The day after, Mao longs to see Sakura Guy again. And once more, fate steps in, this time in the person of Mao's dad. He tells Mao, Meet your uncle, Jinya.

Ai Hime ~Ai to Himegoto~ spawned these tags from those in the know: Age Gap, Possessive Lover, Guardian Relationship, Live-in Lover, Older Male/Younger Female, Smoker, Comedic Undertone, Couple Growth, Cute Female Lead. At least one flag should persuade you to GET!

Ai Hime volume 1 compiles chapters 1 through 4: Badai Musim Semi (Awal) or Spring Storm (The Beginning), Badai Musi Semi (Akhir) (Spring Storm (The End)), Say You Love Me and Cute Boy.

m&c!'s synops may contain   [SPOILERS!] from here on out.

Ai Hime - Love & Secret vol. 2 of 3

Mao and Jinya aren't blood relations after all. But they still have to keep their rabu rabu coupleship a secret, especially from Mao's dad. Mao gets increasingly intimate with racing heartbeats, for more reasons than one; still, it turns out she has cause for palpitations — her parents suddenly return home!

Ai Hime volume 2 contains chapters 5 through 9: Tidur (Slumber), Terjaga (Awake), Cinderella di Musim Panas (Cinderella in Summer), Kisah Lelaki (A Man's Story) and Musim ~Cahaya Rembulan~ (Season ~Moonlight~).

Ai Hime - Love & Secret vol. 3 of 3 [Finale]

No one can separate Mao from Jinya, especially not when they've become one. Since that time, Mao has spent days of bliss with her soul mate.

But what's this foreboding she feels...?

Ai Hime volume 3 consists of chapters 10 through 13 (Final): Musim ~Cahaya Rembulan~ (Akhir) (Season ~Moonlight~ (The End)), Kado (Gift), Titik Lemah (Weakness) and Cinta & Rahasia (Love & Secret).

I'm chou grateful m&c! chose to release the series in one go. I don't think teh heart can take it, especially if volumes 1 and 2 end in evil cliffies.

Other Mitsuki Kaco manga
One of Mitsuki Kaco's best! Ai Hime ~Ai to Himegoto~ isn't the only manga m&c! has published from the Betsucomi A-lister. Before Ai Hime, m&c! concluded the four-volume Love in the Sky or Sora Log.

m&c! also published these Mitsuki Kaco anthologies: Tsuki no Waltz (as Moon Light Dream in August 2010); Zenbu, Hajimete (as The First One in April 2009); Suki, Tokoro ni Yori Arashi (as September Storm in February 2008); and Katakoi no Tsuki (as Yearning Moon).

I don't think the “You will be mine!” Kiss/Hug (ex-Betsucomi, three volumes published in Japan between 2007.12 and 2008.09) nor the Childhood Friends, Love Triangle Dear! (Betsucomi and Deluxe Betsucomi, two volumes released in Japan on 2010.11 and 2011.04) have been published in Indonesia. If you know otherwise, please comment ^^

I certainly haven't seen Mitsuai Celeb (Japan release: 2010.06), the antho Mitsuki Kaco-sensei top-billed and to which she contributed the B・F Romance one-shot. If you don't think headlining Betsucomi's 40th anniversary omnibus is a big deal, get a load of who else coughed up the other, also previously unreleased anywhere one-shots: Yokoyama Mayumi (Friendly Fire), Shiiba Nana (Ookami-tachi no Shiikuhou), Konno Risa (7 Days) and Motomi Kyousuke (Mikkai Coffee Flavor).

Mitsuki Kaco's ongoing Betsucomi serial is Sai x Ai. Volume 1 of the Student × Teacher, Forbidden Love romance streets this 26 October in Japan.

Super Sweet Honey
By Aoi Michiru

Aira, here! Higashi middle school's Dream Girl! Imagine my shock when I actually meet a guy immune to my fatal attractions. (My smile, get your mind out of the gutter.)
A–ny–way, how am I supposed to defrost this Cool Guy, Daichi?

Super Sweet Honey or Sekai Seifuku ☆ Honey (ex-Ciao, if the middle school didn't make it obvious) ended its Indonesian serialization in Cherry last June.

Other Aoi Michiru manga
In addition to Sekai Seifuku Honey, m&c! also published Love Samurai Yuika (as Love Samurai in June 2011) and Rhythmical Style (March 2009).

Can anyone confirm (or deny) if Tokimeku Marriage ever released here? The original Ciao Comics tankou streeted in September 2008. Thanks~

Takeru: Opera Susanoh Sword of the Devil vol. 1 of 4
By Nakashima Kazuki & Karakara Kemuri

Backgrounder on this Susanoh thingy, c/o takeru: Opera Susanoh Sword of the Devil Volume 1:

There is a legend that speaks of a powerful sword hidden and sealed in ‘Jagara-Mogara’. It is said that when the spirits of Light, Water, and Earth come together, the seal of this sword will be broken, and the sword will be immortalized. This is the sword of Susanoh.

Picking up with m&c!'s synopsis:

Destiny summons jovial Izumo, knight Kumaso and mysterious Oguna to Jagara. Coincidence or not, all three bear the same family name, Takeru. Together, they seek the sword of Susanoh in Jagara, at war with the Amamikado nation. The trio never expected the sword to conceal a secret bigger than the Jagara-Amamikado conflict.

Nor anticipated grappling with a darkness that envelops anyone seeking the sword.

Takeru: Opera Susanoh Sword of the Devil is actually the sequel to Oguna - Opera Susanoh Sword of the Devil, released in tankou in April 2007. Both one-volume prequel and five-volume sequel are tagged Ancient War, Ancient Weapons, Royalty, Sword and Sorcery, Swords except in the case of Takeru, Baka-Updates users add Ssaurabi, literally, a father who fights, and Tribal.

Other Nakashima Kazuki works
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann.

Yup, Nakashima Kazuki is the writer of that much-wubbed anime, and thus is credited along with Mori Kotaro (and of course, GAINAX) for the Gurren Lagann manga, Level Comics' volume 3 of which streets the same day as Takeru: Opera Susanoh 1. Needless to say, other TTGL assets bear his name, Guren Gakuenhen and Rasen Shounentan, among them.

Nakashima Kazuki-sensei's most recently contributed to the Crayon Shin-chan Shin-Men manga, volume 1 of which is slated for a 17 November 2011 release.

Other notables aside from TTGL and Opera Susanoh series are Oh! Edo Rocket (serialized in Afternoon, illustrated by Hamana Una, three Afternoon KC volumes per 2009.10), Lost Seven (serialized in Comic Blade, illustrated by Ko YaSeong, four of four Blade Comics volumes per 2010.03), Yamikagishi (serialized in Manga Action, illustrated by Akana Shu, four Action Comics volumes per 2008.03) and Genocide (serialized in Action, illustrated by Kobayashi Takumi, two of two Action Comics volumes per 2005.05).

Other Karakara Kemuri manga
Aside from the Opera Susanoh series, Karakara Kemuri has concluded these Mag Garden Comic Blade Avarus shoujo manga: Replica (four of four volumes per 2009.09) and Countdown 7 Days (four or four volumes per 2011.02).

Her current Donten ni Warau AKA Cloudy Laugh Meiji era action series debuted in Comic Avarus (volume 2 street date: 2011.10.15).

Country Dog & Seoul Cat 1 (m&c!)

Country Dog & Seoul Cat
by Gramedia/m&c!

Country Dog & Seoul Cat vol. 1 of 2
By Hwang SukJi

A dog, friends with a cat?! Impossible! Especially when sed cat is Nabin, an elegant and haughty city feline, and the dog is Manse, an earnest, provincial canine.

If I'm not mistaken, Country Dog & Seoul Cat or Sigolgaewa Seoul Goyangi only spans two volumes — at least, YES24 only returned two results to my 시골개와 서울고양이 query. The second volume streeted in Korea October 2009, the first, June of the same year.

According to Korea Literature Translation Institute's Plus List - Books from Korea newsletter, That a dog and a cat are the main characters means that the conflicting characteristics of humans' two most beloved animals are the main motive of Country Dog and Seoul Cat.

...the dog is a large-sized Siberian Husky that looks even more innocent than the average canine, whereas the Turkish Angora's snow-white fur makes it appear more arrogant than most cats.

The review goes on:

However, the comic story between the dog and the cat is not about the only plot this cartoon. Also of interest to the reader is the love story between the dog owner K and the cat owner C, which unfolds with the episodes about the dog and the cat.

Also: The Korean countryside scenery that appears from time to time is a pleasant bonus.

Country Dog & Seoul Cat volume 1 consists of three episodes: Episode 1 - Country Dog & Seoul Cat, Country Dog and Mini Note 1 (about Siberian Huskies); Episode 2 - Seoul Cat Goes to Country, Seoul Cat and Mini Note 2 (about Turkish Angora); and Episode 3 - American Dog Comes to Seoul, American Dog and Mini Note 3 (about Afghan Hounds). A voluble Comment section and a volume 2 preview close the volume.

Other Hwang SukJi manhwa
If I'm not mistaken (again), Hwang SukJi (Hwang SookJi) is also the manhwa-ga of m&c!-licensed H2O, stuck at volume 6 since January 2009 (the soonjung manhwa finished with seven volumes in Korea). If she IS the same artist, then she also created Angel Shop (four volumes in total) and Oath to Love and Passion (five volumes).

Park SunKyung's Bittersweet High School vol. 3 of 3 wraps with a keeyoot RomeJuli-esque cover, while Tony Wong's God of the Gods vol. 4 of 4 manhua bids bye-bye with a Very Dramatic one. I preview the Bittersweet High School finale below.

Jerry is suspected of breaking school rules. Indignant, he goes and declares his love for Siho! To his further mortification, he ends up ostracized.

Will things ever change in Hwa Mok High School?
