Cardfight!! Vanguard premieres 22 January 2012, Sunday, 10AM WIB (UTC+7) on Animax Asia and airs every Sunday morning thereafter. Synopsis below:

Sendo Aichi, is a timid boy in his third year of middle school who had been living his life rather reclusively. However, when he was a kid, he was given the ‘Blaster Blade,’ a card from a card game known as ‘Vanguard’. Vanguard has a unique play system and takes place in a different planet called ‘Cray,’ making it very popular throughout the world.

One day, Aichi's ‘Blaster Blade,’ was stolen by Morikawa and Aichi chases him to a card shop called ‘Card Capital’. It is then that Aichi started his journey into the world of Cardfight!! Vanguard.

Along the way, Aichi meets friends such as Togura Misaki and Katsuragi Kamui, along with other rivals, but what really drives him is his aim to once again battle with a Vanguard Fighter by the name of Kai Toshiki, the first person whom Aichi battled and the reason why he started playing the game in the first place. Toshiki, an outstanding yet cold-hearted Vanguard fighter, was the one who rescued him from his mundane life and introduced him to Vanguard.

From Animax's promos, you prolly know by now that the Cardfight!! Vanguard anime is based on the popular trading card game of the same name, the brainchild, so Wiki tells me, of Itō Akira (Yu-Gi-Oh! R), Nakamura Satoshi (Duel Masters) and Bushiroad president Kidani Takaaki.

TMS Entertainment animates the card games, demons, monsters Cardfight!! Vanguard, but from ep 34 onwards, Studio Sakimakura takes over. (See ANN's Cardfight!! Vanguard (TV) entry.) The anime premiered 8 January last year; the latest ep to air in Japan is 55 (OAD: 2012.01.21), and obviously, the announced 65-episode run wasn't enough because a second season has been greenlit.

Seiyuu Yonaga Tsubasa (Komano Tsutomu in Chihayafuru), Satō Takuya, Kitta Izumi (Cordelia Glauca, Tantei Opera Milky Holmes and Tantei Opera Milky Holmes Dai-Ni-Maku) and Ishikawa Shizuka (Amao Kakeru, Live On Cardliver Kakeru) voice Sendo Aichi, Kai Toshiki, Togura Misaki and Katsuragi Kamui respectively.

So far, the anime has five themes: OPs Vanguard and Believe in My Existence, both performed by JAM Project, and EDs Diamond Star by Aso Natsuko, Smash Up!! by Shiina Hekiru (eps 16 onwards) and the fifth ending theme performed by the Milky Holmes cast.

So reiterating: Cardfight!! Vanguard premieres this 22 January 2012, Sunday, 10AM WIB on Animax and airs Sundays thereafter.
