m&c! reprints a quartet of much-wubbed shoujo one-shot tankou: Café de Romance by Miyawaki Yukino ♡, Figure Star (Figure Star Koori no Ue de Dakishimete) by Nagareda Masami, Hijiri, The Boy Next To Me (Tonari no Hijiri-kun) by Yagami Chitose ♡ and the manga that locked in my Shiumi Saki stalking: My Rival Is My Love ♡ or Rival wa Koibito. (Too bad later Shiumi Saki don't even come close to the emotional resonance of My Rival — I'm looking at you, Misunderstand Girl and Angry Prince and Perfect Boy Falls in Love.) Flower of Queen vol 3 mini-review
Rating: 8 of 10 ♥. The opening pages of chapter 5, feat. Adult!Hakusei, will take your breath away and/or make your heart skip several beats. Or maybe both. The characters' feelings resonate, making this volume a True Keeper. Volume 3 would've actually gotten a higher rating if Haku had also appeared in remainder chapters 6 and 7. (That's how much I ♡ Hakusei, and when I say "Haku," I refer to This Haku and not That Haku.) Still, I've always been intrigued by Seitetsu, and the flashback to his past with Kouhi, albeit predictable, more than satisfied. So, thank you, Jasmine-san, for introducing me to Flower of Queen.
Lurve this series so much, thinking of hunting down Story of a Princess (Ninohime no Monogatari) that Baka-Updates Manga sez is the prequel to Jouou no Hana. Yes, Ninohime no Monogatari is also a Princess × Vassal story.
Four Jouou no Hana tankou have been published in Japan as of July 2011. The fifth volume streets on 26 January 2012.
